Although I am still in mourning for the end of summer, there is one beacon of light that keeps me going at this time of the year. That’s right people – the return of the Fall television season! Yes, it’s that time of year again. When our good friends finally return to us. With all their new guests, challenges, jokes and plots. In particular, I’m looking forward to getting together with my dear friends Oprah, Jeff Probst and the whole gang at Dunder Mifflin.
I’m also a big fan of Law & Order, Coronation Street and Flight of the Conchords. And if I’m being honest, I’m a bit of a reality show junkie. My favorites in that category would include;
- Ruby – yes she’s fat, but she’s delightful! I love her accent and she makes me feel very thin.
- Flipping Out – how can you not love watching the neurotic Jeff Lewis flip houses? I want to work for him so badly. We’d be great friends, I just know it. I want to be his Jenni.
- Say Yes to the Dress – what’s not to love about naive young brides searching for their perfect wedding gown?
- Obsessed – whether it’s teeth, hair, driving, germs, working out, showers or anything else, these people have some BIG issues. They make me feel really normal and very boring.
- Hoarders – okay. This is my favorite. I think that maybe I’m obsessed with “Hoarders” and should probably be on the show “Obsessed” (see above). You will not believe these people’s houses. It’s like a car wreck – horrifying, but you just can’t look away. If you’re at all feeling guilty about the current tidiness of your house, you must tune in for an episode or two. Honestly. You’ve never seen anything like it.
- Kendra – a former Hugh Hefner girlfriend who married an NFL star. Okay, so I’m shallow.
While Willie and I both enjoy watching Survivor, The Office, Law & Order, Coronation St. and the Conchords together, he’ll not have any part of the rest of my faves. So, what I do is PVR Oprah and all my reality shows. Then, on the nights that Willie is out, I quickly lovingly tuck my boys into bed, jump into my favorite pjs, head downstairs where I fix myself a snack, flick on the fireplace and indulge in a few hours of girlie show bliss.
Ahhh . . . almost as good as a hot stone massage!

can I come over sometime after you’ve tucked your boys in bed and Willie’s out? I won’t worry about mine being tucked in because that may be too late…
Cher says: Absolutely! Hey Willie’s away this weekend – how ’bout a good old fashioned girlie sleepover? I’ll send my kids to your house, we’ll invite a few more girls over and watch a whole week of Oprah at once while drinking Bud Light Limes and eating multigrain nachos with guacamole late into the night! We’ll laugh – we’ll cry . . . Who else is in?! I even promise to do a coffee run in the morning.
