I think I must be my own best friend.  No one leaves me more voice messages or emails than I do.

In fact, almost all the voice messages I get at work are from me.  Why?  Well because I have a terrible memory of course.

So bad that I have to leave myself little reminders all over the place.  When I’m at work I call home to say “Don’t forget to . . . “  Then, when I’m at home I call work to say “Don’t forget to . . . “.  ALL the time.

Or it’s an email to myself – from home to work, or from work to home.

Then there’s the notes.  Oh, the never ending notes and lists!

Maybe my memory is bad because all the notes, lists, emails and voice messages have prevented me from having to use it.  Like a bunch of memory crutches.  Or at least a bunch of memory canes.  You know what they say – “use it or loose it”.

So now the dilemma – dare I go on a reminder hiatus?  An attempt to resuscitate my failing memory?  Exercise some mental muscle?  Dare I?  It could throw my family’s whole life into utter forgetful chaos.  And with the holiday season upon us . . . well, I shudder to think what might fall through the cracks.

Maybe I’ll send myself a reminder to give it a go in the New Year.

LOL! I’m not as bad as you for voice/email messages but I CAN’T live without my lists!

Oh, I wish I could be more like you. I always think my mental list will do and then, of course, something always falls off. Very unfortunate. My husband even tries to make me a grocery list and then I forget it and leave it at home. *sigh*

Voicemail messages to yourself? That’s brilliant. I’m totally using it……..

(Thanks for stopping. We are hanging in there……)

oh man. Don’t go cold turkey. I just got all anxious thinking about it!! Maybe eliminate one note and one voicemail at a time.

Thanks for visiting my blog the other day. I about died when you said you had a cougar crush on Jerry Trainor. Next time I (if) see him I will let him know. ;)

I totally do this. I have to though. I found myself forgetting everything I had to do. I now have a “Post It” on my phone where I write all kinds of notes to myself. I always have bells and ringers going off on my calendar on my phone that tells me it is someone’s birthday or whatever. Call it a crutch all you want. I call it organization… just to be nice!

I email and text myself all the time, because I have the memory of a fruit fly.* It’s totally cool. Right!??!!?!??!!

*nothing against fruit flies- who knows, they probably have better memory than me. They’re definitely faster, cause I can never clap one with my hands and I end up running around the kitchen looking like some maniacal over-applauder freak.

I do it too…it’s not weird unless someone else hears it!!!

Go ahead - leave me a comment. I dare you.
