Well, well, well. What can I say? As a Canadian, it can officially be said that my people RULE at hockey! Olympic gold for the woman AND for the men? Wow. Of course I’d love to rub it in, but since we Canadians are polite and well mannered, I’ll just let that opportunity pass in favour of saying that yesterday’s game was great. Very close, very tense, and really exciting to watch (love you Sidney Crosby)!

But what gets me every time is when the camera pans over to the loosing team – whoever it might be, and in whatever sport – and you see their sad, disappointed faces. Of course it breaks my heart and I start to tear up right along with them. Damn my sensitive side!

But now it’s all over. Over! What will we watch on TV tonight? What will we talk about in the elevator and around the water cooler at work every day? The Olympics were a real family viewing event in our Living Room every evening and I’m going to miss it.

I am, however, going to continue to wear my red mittens.  DON’T try to stop me!

Will you be missing the Olympics tonight or are you glad it’s done with?  Do you wish you had a pair of Canadian red mittens like I do?  Have you been recently overcome with the desire to take up an obscure and dangerous winter sport?  Do you find yourself appreciating full length spandex body suits more than you did 2 weeks ago?  Do you frequently find yourself shouting “HARD” in inappropriate places or at inappropriate times?

Leave it for me in the comments.  I’ll read it later when I’m back from Speed Skating practice.  Look out 2014 – here I come!

I didn’t watch any of the Winter Olympics. None at all.

Partly because it was on at an inconvenient time and partly because sports like that don’t really interest me. I didn’t even watch the Olympics when we had them here in Australia.

I did hear that we Aussies had our most successful winter games ever though. Two gold medals. Cop that everyone else.

You are too funny! Yes, I’ll miss the Olympics – I’m already starting to get the shakes. As you know, I really feel I was part of that winning GOLD for our men’s hockey as I DIDN’T watch the game…..just so we’d win ;)

    Hi,

Also a Canadian blogger. I will miss the tight spandex on muscular bodies, you bet. But I will not miss my husband glued to the TV all hours of the day!. Praise the lord! We will see in 4 years what Soshi brings! Visiting from SITS. Congrats for your brand new niece! :)

I would like to officially say (into the mic and on the record) that I’m very happy for Canada and their gold medals in hockey. I think it would have been arrogant for the US to beat Canada at their home sport on their home turf. Like beating Scotland in futball. And every blogger that’s chosen to write about the Olympics today has professed the desire to exchange our anthem for your all’s. So apparently you rock at that, too. And you have a sense of humor. VERY refreshing. I DO actually want a pair of mittens like yours (my friends in Chicago inform me that mittens are far superior to gloves for keeping your hands warm). But it is my sincerest hope that we are close to the end of winter here and thus won’t need them anymore.

As for the Olympics, I am sad to see them go, but ecstatic about new episodes of CSI: NY (HELLO Gary Senise!!) and “The Closer”…my DVR is empty and sad.

but i thought of you when i heard canada won the hockey game. yay for canada!

I’m glad it’s over. The olympics are painful to those of us not athletically inclined. And, you’re right, Canadians pretty much OWN hockey!

Watched ‘em, watched ‘em a ton, more than ever before.

Bought those mittens for the niece and nephews and now am a hero…

However I hear you can sell them now on Kajajiji for a mint!

i have to admit…i am glad the olympics are over because i was staying up way too late at night watching them. I was bummed about the US losing in the hockey game…but i have to say I was happy that a north american team won. My hub and I found ourselves routing for Canada almost as often as we routed for USA….
we were in the North America Rocks Mode!
    Congrats on the win!

I bow down to you my fine Canadian friend. If there was anyone to lose to, it was you.

Now back to my regularly scheduled programming.

I did not watch the Olympics. I used to want to be a downhill skier in the Olympics when I grew up, but it never happened. *sigh*. It’s more fun to do these things then it is to watch (at least to me). Then again, I don’t watch the Summer Olympics either. Stopped in from SITS to say Hi!
