In case you missed yesterday’s Office Tour craziness, we had FOUR new ones! How cool is that?! I did update yesterday’s post throughout the day, but in case you missed any, they are all listed in my previous post AND over on my sidebar. I know of a few more good ones that are still to come, but if you haven’t joined in yet, we’d love to see yours. ‘Cause we’re nosey.
Also, Jessalyn at Cape Code Awesome has done an Office Tour Follow Up today! Apparently there were several unanswered questions from her original post that needed to be addressed, so she has kindly tied up some loose ends for us today. As always, you don’t want to miss Jessalyn because she is indeed Awesome – with a capital “A”.
I’m also looking for a few more vlog questions. No questions = no vlog. It’s just that simple folks. And frankly, after further consideration, I’m a tad scared of the whole thing anyway, so “no vlog” would suit me just fine. I’m just saying.
(not really me – just a picture I found on Google)
(but I wish it was me because she’s cuddled up in bed and I’m . . . not)
What I will leave you with today is something a little more serious. I am going to make myself a promise and I’m putting it out here on The Nets so that I can’t possibly pretend that I didn’t.
“I, Cher of The Only Girl, do hereby promise that I will wake up 15 minutes earlier in the mornings in an attempt to avoid the daily mad scramble that inevitably happens as I attempt to get the boys and myself out of the house on time every day.”
There! I’ve said it. Now I have to stick to it (don’t I?).
But here’s the problem . . . I’m not a morning person. At all. I really, really love sleep. And I really, really love my bed. Which is why I have 2 alarm clocks. A clock radio beside my bed and a really annoying loud beepy one in the ensuite bathroom so that I actually have to get up OUT of the bed to turn it off.
But mainly I like to listen to the Hollywood Update that my radio station does every morning because I NEED to be in the know about all things celeb. My life depends on it (right Surferwife?). And I also like to listen to the top news stories and traffic report that immediately follows the Hollywood Update. This is important and necessary information because I have a 45 minute drive into Toronto on a very busy highway and need to be in the loop on traffic issues because that will determine;
a) do I get a coffee for the drive to work because I’ll be in the car for a really long time?
OR
b) do I wait and buy a coffee from my little coffee place friend in my building’s lobby when I get to work?
Clearly these are important decisions that deserve educated answers. Thus my lounging in bed to listen to the radio.
But no more!
I will get up 15 minutes earlier, BEFORE said Hollywood Update and news/traffic report. I will have my shower, and then and only then, will I listen to these important things while continuing to get ready for work.
Won’t I?
Are you a morning person or do you scramble out the door every day too? Got any good suggestions for me on how to wake up earlier? Do you feel I might have had my fingers crossed when I made that promise?

Cripes, Cher. We have the same mad scramble and it is only getting worse as the school year is winding down. It’s bad. One great big SurferWife tornado erupts at about 7:37 when we have to be out the door by 7:45 and I still have 786487264827 things to do.
I am going to do my tour today. Stay tuned.

I’m not a morning person.
Since I’m like practically 95 I could not buy coffee to keep me company on a 45 minute wait on a busy hwy. Why? Cuz I’d piss in my panties.
Okay, I’m gonna ask you tons of questions.
What’s your favorite color?
Your favorite show?
Fave show that you’re embarrassed to admit?
Your favorite music?
Fave music that you’re embarrassed to admit?
What is your favorite store?
If you had a girl what would you name her?
What is the most embarrassing moment you’ve ever had? Ever. And don’t lie cuz I’ll know.

I’m sorry. Only one question per person. Please resubmit.
(kidding)
That’s a boat-load of questions Mimi. You’re only punishing yourself because you’ve just made what will surely be a sad vlog even longer. I’m sure no one will thank you.

I have such a hard time getting out of bed in the morning too. I set my alarm for 7. Then I snooze it at least twice. Then I lie in bed and check mail on my phone. And the weather. And then I turn on the TV. I am a procrastination artist. Once I’m up, I’m pretty much good to go through.
Let’s see…questions for you….
1. How many boas do you own?
2. What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
3. Do you like tacos? If yes, what do you like on them?

I abhor the morning. With all of my being. My husband literally pulls me out of bed. I hit the snooze for about 20 minutes, then he pulls the covers off me and pushes my legs off the edge of the bed and says “get up NOW”. I say something like “hhmrrgffhphy” and frown and crinkle my forehead. Then he says “I’m turning on the lights.” So I put my head under the covers and then he says “GET UP.” It’s ridic and he hates me from 6am to 6:30am, I am sure of it.
Do you love having sons?! That’s my vlog question.

So in my world, I’m your husband and my boys are you. Don’t have kids. I’m just saying.

Okay, so, I set my alarm clock ahead a little bit, but I’m never sure exactly how much ahead it is, so I get up at what I think is the right time, but somehow I’m still early. Now, this only works if you really don’t know how far ahead your clock is… when you start maneuvering around the 10 minutes that your clock is set ahead then it’s time to reset the clock. Does that make any sense?
Hmmmmmm…. vlog topics… I’ll think on it.

I don’t envy you having to drive into Toronto every morning.
I always do the adding minutes to the time on my alarm clock. I actually am a morning person. Having said that, that initial getting out of bed is still hard. Once I’m up I’m good to go!
April 27th, 2010 at 7:38 pm
Oh my word, I need to make the SAME promise! It is always a scramble to get Mike and Avery out the door. And yes, a mere FIFTEEN minutes would greatly improve that scramble.
I. Can’t. Do. It.
Seriously. My alarm starts going off a full half hour before I know I MUST be up. I have to work myself up to doing such things as WAKING. Very traumatizing.

Ha!! Good luck with that Cher!!!

I asked you a question and you rejected it. You can’t just reject questions and then say “You didn’t ask any questions so I’m not doing a vlog”. That wasn’t our agreement.
I’m a morning person. Kind of. In that, I wake up before 7 every morning, but I’m not really productive until 10 or 11.
The only advice I would give you is, don’t have kids.

I didn’t reject your question. I was just looking for more. But since you’re being all sore-looser and such, I may reject it now. You brought that shit on yourself.

thanks for the shout out lady!
i am becoming more of a morning person in my old age. even though i don’t want to be. i used to be able to sleep until, basically the clock was in the pm part of its cycle. but now, even on a sunday, my internal body clock is all “hey lady, you are an old fart. get up by 7 am. biotch.” i hate my internal body clock.
ok. vlog shtuff….well, this isn’t really a question, more of a request. tell us the single funniest moment in your life. i have been pondering a vlog myself, seeing as everyone is jumping on the vlog train, and that’s what i have been thinking about doing. because i don’t think anyone would have questions for me. because i am really not that interesting.

I want to do a vlog too but I’m scurred. I sound like a hillbilly.
I’m NOT a morning person at all, although I have to be since I work for a living. I would so much rather sleep in and stay up late. I get right up with the alarm, but tend to take forever getting ready. It’s way more important getting up early now because I have to get here early in order to get a good spot in the lot! But I still hate it.

i am NOT a morning person. i can’t function for at least an hour, and that’s provided i’ve had sufficient amounts of coffee and tea. ugh. i hate the morning!!!! you’re brave to make this promise, 15 minutes is like 34950394 years for me in sleep time…

Crap! You just reminded me that I still need to make my lunch and set the coffee pot up so I won’t be late in the morning. I’m not a morning person either so I try and do everything the night before — set the coffee pot, make my lunch, shower, pick out my clothes (that I will inevitably change at least twice in the morning). It all helps but the biggest motivation is the fact that I just got written up for excessive tardiness,,,ugh.
