(not my leg – mine is far less defined)
The summer season has come to Ontario. Early and with a vengeance. Bringing with it weather that rivals that of Cancun, heat alerts and record breaking temperatures.
It’s fabulous!
And with it comes the summer wardrobe. The shorts, the skirts, the capris and the bathing suits.
Of course this means I’ve had to quickly shift into “summer legs” mode. Which involves regular shaving and moisturizing – two things that have been grossly neglected throughout the winter months.
Which is partly due to the lack of a requirement when the gams are buried beneath long johns, pants and socks and partly due to sheer laziness. Did you know that after a certain point, stubble gets soft? It’s true.
But the older I get the harder it gets to shave properly. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to see what the heck I’m doing. And no matter how much time I take, or how careful I am, the minute I step out into the sunlight – there they are. Fuzzy knees.
Would it be so hard to invent a proper knee shaver? Or perhaps one already exists that I don’t know about. I’ve considered shaving out on the back deck where the sunlight will surely aid my cause, but I don’t think the neighbours need to be subjected to that. I’ve also considered stashing a ravor in my purse for when I’m at work. Apparently fluorescent lighting helps to shine the light of truth on the little hairs that seem to fade away in the dim light of my shower.
Am I the only one that has this problem? Do I simply need to get my eyes checked?

OMG. You and I…we share a brain. I seriously JUST was thinking about this the other day while driving and I was like…did I miss my knee entirely? So now I’ve been taking extra special care trying to shave my knees, but I STILL have been missing a spot!!
Gillette has invented a bikini shaver. They should really get on a knee shaver next.

Me and You. This weekend. Inventing one. We’ll beat Gillette at their own game!

I am forever missing spots on my legs. I do sometimes bring my tweezers to work because the bathroom lighting is better for seeing the strays around my eyebrows. Maybe you could get a little fluorescent light for your bathroom? I’m sure Ikea has one…

Something about water and plug-in lighting sounds like a big no-no to me.
But I’m glad your young eyes are as bad as mine. Makes me feel less old, and for that I thank you.

I always look down and find that I have a huge patch of stubble still blatantly available for everyone to see.
It’s called lack of focus for me

omgosh I totally forgot that I was going to have to shave for real to go swimming tomorrow. ugh. that almost makes it not worth the hassle.

Oh good grief, yes! The damn knees!! And they are long because I obviously miss them all the time.
You and Salt are so on the knee shaver invention. And all I want is a lifetime supply. Thank you.

Can’t believe I’m going to admit this, but I always miss the backs of my legs behind the knee…the knee pit, if you will. And one day I looked and there is all this hair and I’m like SICK that’s awful! But I’m an everyday leg shaver…cant’ stand the feeling of even the tiniest bit of stubble!

Whenever I use a fresh, brand new razor my knees look and feel super smooth. However, after the second use, I swear I run that razor over my knees a quadrillion times and they are still so hairy! I don’t understand. It makes me quite annoyed. And I cannot afford to change my razor every single day!

You are NOT the only one. I always have fuzzy knees.

I have one word for you………waxing! It’ll change your life – it did mine.

I’ve had this problem forever and I’m just 33. So I don’t know…maybe it’s cuz we have blond leg hair?? I can’t see mine until I’m DONE shaving.

I am forever missing a spot. It’s definitely annoying. We are re-doing our bathroom in the fall and I want a light in the shower. It’s the only way to correct the problem.

You are most definitely not alone. I will sit there in the shower and go over and over the knees, often ending up with a cut and STILL there’s hair left. How can it break my skin but not take the hair with it?

Nope you’re not the only one Cher. I have numerous scars on the knees and ankles from trying to get rid of the fuzz!!!

I hate that! Especially if you miss the same patch like 2 weeks in a row. Then you find yourself with a thatch of hair that you can braid.
Not sexy!

haha, I SO know what you mean. There MUST be a knee shaver out there
I’ve turned to laser hair removal, and it has been AWESOME!!!! Now I rarely have to shave and my legs are always smooth.

I think this is one of the perils of being a woman that us men rarely consider, because it doesn’t concern us.
What goes on behind closed doors while we’re watching TV is none of our business.

I always miss my ankles, too and end up with a lovely fringe around them.

It’s not just you. Also–and this is kind of gross so please immediately forget it–I kind of forget about the fuzz on my big toes. It is the curse of the dark-haired woman. Men have toe hair and…whatever. A woman with toe hair is a freakin’ hobbit. THE SEXES SHALL NEVER BE EQUAL.

I always end up with missed spots on my knees too. Or I’ll miss spots on the back of my legs only to discover it later in the day when I have my legs crossed. Really attractive. And you know hair lights up like a damn beacon when you’re outside!

I am so with you. My eyes are fine, but my knees are not. Having a smooth knee shave is just one of those things we need to let go of. Like having your whole house clean all at the same time. Unless you have a housekeeper, it is just a dream. I can shave one spot on my knee over and over 14 times and there will still be hair there. It’s actually a sign of intelligence. Embrace it sister.

I hate shaving. My hair is dark. Like super dark. So even when I shave you can see it right under my skin. Sucks. If I’m going on vacation or something I’ll get a full leg and bikini wax beforehand. It’s worth all the pain. I don’t have to shave for like 2 weeks!
